Because he's been to space, he's fought off aliens bent on destroying the entire multiverse, the probability of there being an infinite number of parallel and surrounding realities is actually not as farfetched as one would think, and he's ... you know. A superhero back home, or whatever. An honorary Avenger, kinda. He fought alongside Iron Man! Captain America! Captain Marvel! (Who looked at him funny and probably thought he was a total weirdo, but it's fine, it's totally fine.)
But at some point if you happen to get wrangled into conversation with him, it's pretty clear that the pretense he'd been keeping up is starting to show cracks, even if he's being aggressively upbeat about the whole thing. Finding answers is going to be tomorrow's task, first thing in the morning. ]
Oof — man. I dunno if you've ever seen this really old movie? About this guy who like, wakes up and discovers there's this whole other world, and he's the One guy who's gotta like, save everyone because he takes the red pill instead of the blue? [ He rambles when he's nervous, or stuck in a new weird situation, or he just wants to fill the silence so the other person isn't staring at him weird, or they're staring at him weird but it's okay because he's talking. He misses his aunt, he misses his friends, he misses New York. And his webshooters! His bare wrists leave him feeling really, really defenseless.
Which was probably the point when he woke up on a lab table. ] Literally they refer to him as 'The One'. I mean, the movie was awesome but I really hope this place isn't like that. Who could ever be ready for that kinda responsibility?
