( Soy protein and beans are a welcome alternative. He knows red meat is rare to nonexistent here, but it's something of an instinct to check. Particularly when the color red is involved. The fungi... that was a stand-alone occurrence, he can blot that out of his mind.

No tomato in the asteroid belt? A lack of terraforming, or just a lack of popularity?

( Soy protein makes sense. He's making an educated guess that red meat may be as rare there as it is here. He can't imagine there's a lot of room for cattle production in a relatively small, hermetically sealed environment. The methane production alone could present a challenge. )
