[ He is nobody. It’s not the answer she’s looking for, but she doesn’t press him. It’s fine if he’d rather keep his privacy, she really can’t fault him for that. After all that time observing the people who walked past her alleyways, in their black suits and pressed shirts, she knows that they all paid and killed a lot to retain that privacy. She doesn’t think this is the case here however, the way he’s fidgeting like he’s under pressure, maybe not so much because of feeling cornered. He’s just uncomfortable, she realizes.

So, she decides to say exactly what she means. Maybe her open honesty would set his mind at ease. ]


No, I wouldn’t have wanted that. It might have turned out badly. But you were here.

[ She takes a small sip of her water before slowly getting to her feet, her knees only wobbling a bit. But she does stand. ]

I don’t have any money to pay you back.

[ Just a pause, her mind scrambling to come up with some way to clear a debt and fairly. ]

But if you ever need a favour I’ll try my best to fulfill it. Until I can think of something better.
