[ Fitz has told her a great deal about Jemma Simmons, maybe even that she admired Peggy's work, but somehow she didn't grasp what precisely that meant until now. The bond, as brief as it is between them, tells her the depth of that respect and it's β€” well, touching, actually.

She's known since meeting Agents Morse and Johnson (and hearing of the future after her time, living some version of it in this present) that women are as welcome as men in their particular fields. In all fields, now. It means a great deal to her to know that somewhere out there in the vast stream of time and space, she's helped make that kind of impact. To feel it and see it in someone like Jemma, a fellow Englishwoman, the future of the organisation she has yet to build... ]

The honour is mine. [ She genuinely means that. ] And please, Fitz has been nothing short of a wonder this whole time. He explained everything to me when I got here, you know β€” he's still explaining it, all told. The leaps technology has made just between my time and yours β€” [ Peggy shakes her head. She doesn't need to say it; Jemma likely knows just as much as he does. ] Of course, he always spoke highly of you. It's good to put a face to the name.

[ And the stories. Whether they were tidbits sprinkled in of what reminded him of her, what she would say or think, or something more. She could see how much he'd missed her. She was like that in the years after losing Steve. And although she's moved on now, she thinks she'll always miss him. That's no bad thing. ]
