she'd gone to the festival in the early morning, and now she's back. tired, perhaps suffering from some light sensory overlord that she's sure to associate with this new world until she adjusts to the sheer amount of neon lighting and noise.

it might not be immediately easy to tell what truly draws caroline in. it's the whole of it, the unbelievably indulgent, long-gone everyday from before the breakdown, where there were shows to watch, magazines to riffle through day in and out, on every subject from fashion to science to cat care. solitaire's, ironically, one of the few things the hordes of fungus-driven zombies hungries didn't take –– while most infrastructure to do with modern entertainment crumbled within the first couple of years, packs of cards remained available. even her computer at the base had the game installed, though she never played. too indulgent. there's a constant fear of overusing whatever resources you were granted.

she realises she's been watching for a bit too long.


They have a simulator for the war at the festival.

yeah, caroline, because it's not creepy to point out that you've been staring long enough to identify what page of world history the other woman's on.
