( if there's a commonality she's found between the people here, it's that so many people are in a rush to know how she lost the damn things. she has, by turns, said: gambling debt, famine, a sporting accident, exit stage left chased by bears. none of it's true. no one living knows how it happened, and vandii is happy to play that mystery close to her chest. but she's surprised the woman didn't make a point of it, and that surprise shows very briefly in the wrinkle of her nose.
