Hello and good morning.
I was wondering about a few things:
Firstly, are there other medical professionals here among the Displaced? If so, do we have an organized method of making sure everyone who wants to knows first aid basics has access to someone who will teach them? Supplies and whatever else?
I know that medicine has advanced from what I'm used to but there seems to be enough danger here, historically, to justify learning, if people are interested.
Secondly, does anyone know what happened to the Americas to make it unlivable? Or at least, un-travel-to-able?
Thirdly, what do you miss the most from the places you came from before you got here? Just in case the rest of my questions aren't of interest to you.
2. resolution day festival
a. [ People are celebrating in the streets, in a party the likes of which Marta has never seen before. The food trucks, at least, are a sort of familiar sight. She has noodles and crickets (which doesn't gross her out much; she's had chocolate covered insects before, and they don't taste bad) and is watching a group of people play some kind of game of capture the flag. Every so often someone comes up to draw her in and she shakes her head gently, shoveling more food into her mouth as a way to keep from participating. ]
b. [ Eventually, though, there's music and dancing and this is something that Marta can lose herself in. Sleeves covering her hands to keep from accidentally touching anyone, Marta moves in time with the bass, eyes closed and feet moving this way and that.
When she does bump into someone, her eyes immediately snap open and she catches herself mid-step. ]

3. fight club sidelines
[ At some point someone found out that Marta was a nurse and that's how she ended up here, ringside at an underground fight club, wincing as someone takes another hit in the ring. She stands out as someone who isn't cheering or betting but does have a bodyguard of sorts right behind her - just in case someone gets the bright idea to kidnap or otherwise remove the medic from the scene.
Or maybe she's the one that's been kidnapped and the guard is to keep her from escaping (this is the much likelier story, here)! Either way, she'll be giving small, tight-lipped smiles to other onlookers and a gentle but practiced hand at first aid to those injured in the ring after their fights. ]
