His eyes flick down to look at their joined hands, curiosity flickering at the familiarity. The weapon-forged calluses on his own hands have softened somewhat; he hasn't been on the front line in over a year, and his access to weapons has been restricted. But it's not hard to recognize. Not when the hands of most of the people he knows have similar geography.
Her emotions, too, are familiar, though Maine's anger has always run hot rather than cold. He feels that burst of happiness as well. Finds that his lips reflexively twitch up in the shadow of a smile.
All in all, it's not the horrible, invasive experience Maine expected. Could've been worse. They could've spontaneously combusted instead of just … lighting up like weird blue lightbulbs.
