and it's the most depressing dialogue... i'm touched

She does eventually.

[ really ending on a high note, there. in the game of guess who still hates tex, there are no prizes for winning; it's too easy.

carolina has her hands shoved in the pockets of her jeans by now, shoulders squared and stiff. she hates not having her armour, hates not having a rifle to carry, to feel in her hands and grip a little harder when she gets frustrated, her way of preparing herself for anything that might come next. she's so exposed, unprepared here. the fact that she's never actually needed a weapon to protect herself or damage someone else is of little comfort. ]

And Alpha's friend killed Wy. By my point in time, there are only a handful of Freelancers I don't have confirmed deaths for and I'm not optimistic. [ has she ever been? ] The Director's dead. I think some of the support staff went back to the UNSC.

[ none of that actually matters, just grim facts that aren't really going to make this conversation any worse, so she might as well get them out. he knows so much already. ]

Anyway. [ a sharp exhale. ] Between you getting Sigma and us losing you to him, Connie defected. We went to retrieve her and there was a fight, me and Texas against Connie and Ephemera's captain. Connie didn't come back.
