Surprise, it's June! We've got some new players coming in and we're nearing cap, so it's a great time to kickstart some new CR or work on something you've already got in the works.

So, here we go!

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Get settled, meet new people, drop a drama bomb in Catra and Adora's relationship.
AREAS OF INTEREST: She's all about rebelling against unjust authorities and she's gonna be real gung ho about figuring out what she can about why she's here and how.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Glimmer will be at the safe house for a bit, so if you stop by there, feel free to say they've met in passing or shared a cup of tea or something.
OVERALL GOALS: Have fun! Get Glimmer involved with new people and see where our CR takes us.

POWER: Bloodbending, which I plan on having her figure out this month for sure.
JOB: She currently makes money off the fighting pits but following her work in the simulation, she'll be getting a job of some kind as a bodyguard.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Hawke was in the simulation as one of the constant supply run people. She likes being active and doing something, so going back to sort of normal life might even be an adjustment for her. She was a part of the attack in the simulation, CHAOS. She started to hallucinate her ex so that was fun.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Getting her a job and getting her to use her powers for the first time. And instantly panic about it. Continue to make friendships and explore her new life here.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Listed above! But she will also be into pushing back on the UNA, she's just better if you point her like a gun at someone, less so with the uplifting talks. She's all for pulling down the gov though.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Hawke is extremely friendly and extroverted. She can definitely have chatted with you at Red Wings or fought you in the fighting rings/talked with a drink after. In the simulation she put herself out there to be active and meet people, so if you want her to have connected with your character there, for sure!
OVERALL GOALS: Taking the next step with her figuring out her powers and finding a steadier place here in New Amsterdam now that she's accepted where she's at.

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: typical arrival stuff - getting settled, catching up with her friendos that are here already, reaching out and starting to make new ones. trying to deal with newfound deets of her dying. it will definitely be on her mind for a bit (someone get her drunk to vent about it she's stressed af)
AREAS OF INTEREST: really interested in several things:

empathy bond - particularly with someone she doesn't already know well. bonus if they need someone to inject sunshine in their life she will help with that (she's a cheerful, upbeat, teasing type)

working with her power. she was into plants and gardening before, but here she can do the same thing without the baggage of hearing her planet scream at her (like literally she can hear the planet's screams) so playing around with that. Anyone need help with a dying cactus call ya girl aerith
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Aerith will be at the safehouse for now, getting her bearings, feel free to assume they've had small chats - she would say hi to everyone she sees in a similar situation to herself and make sure they were doing good overall.
OVERALL GOALS: getting aerith settled in and making new frands or even people who are annoyed with her, i don't care, i enjoy many flavors of cr

Quentin the Disaster Child

JOB: He still works for Red Wings as marketing/publicity and luckily they have a lot of it going right now, so that's nice lol. He also may have some other things in his mind that are job-adjacent in the future.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Anyone involved with the simulation knows that Quentin fucked up royally by revealing Cassius was helping them to Judas. That was a crushing failure on top of him being very raggedy and emotionally a hot mess from the simulation itself. He also lost the love of his life (who is coming back but) and just generally had a terrible time.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Q needs some time to lick his wounds and get past his guilt and hopefully get to a better place again with his mental health. Eliot will be back so that will mean a lot, but he is going to focus his energy on potentially the Ball worshippers (Ball is another loss hitting him hard), and another project he had in mind. He's not in a good place to be as out there as he usually is.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Q's still interested in the mysteries. He will eventually be interested in trying to figure out how to open the Amsterdam gate again, he does have a glowing relic! He is very interested in the worshippers and some historical rewriting stuff that may be coming up. He cares about the mystery a lot, so you can always pull him in there.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Quentin is typically friendly and open to people, but he will be a little more withdrawn currently. In the simulation he was focused on rickly ling and project hope, so your character could have been around him duing that. He made it very public that he was responsible for the Cassius reveal so your character can have that information for sure.
OVERALL GOALS: Balancing him out again, getting him to use his powers for the first time, focusing his projects going forward on something more mind and nerd related.
ANYTHING ELSE: This impression from Hale Appleman of Quentin's way of speaking is A+ and everyone should watch it lol.

AREAS OF INTEREST: Uh! I work for a nonprofit in a profession people generally don't get without an in-depth explanation, so let's just say I am a fancy therapist who focuses on behavior. Anyway, as you can guess, I am super into behavior and psychology. If you guessed that my favorite is abnormal psychology, you're not wrong! I listen to a lot of podcasts and know way too much about Mesopotamia. I read Old English at parties. I like to guide people through museums in my spare time (fun fact: I was in a volunteer docent). Pretty big into art history generally and can sort of read/listen to French semi-fluently. Sort of. I play a lot of Animal Crossing, Zelda, and Pokemon. I am openly out at work, so I get to function as an advocate in ways I didn't think I would be able to also. Uhhhh. I have been known to talk about Persona 3, Evangelion, Devilman (the og is my fave), and MXTX canons (particularly the one my boy is from). Really enthusiastic and difficult to make anything not chill. I am extremely dry or lean into horrible puns. Love me a ton of horror movies and sci-fi. If you like to chat a lot, I can usually keep up no problem. Have been described as: "intense, but in a good way."

CANON: Mo Dao Zu Shi or The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation.
JOURNAL: wangxian
POWER: Truth Compulsion or Veracity! This is (hopefully) going to take another branch soon as well.
JOB: He is a part-time art teacher online and a part-time receptionist at a local gallery in New Amsterdam. He also plays live music at Red Wings on Monday nights with Wei Wuxian. He also is secretly Meadowlark's equivalent to Banksy at the moment.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Lan Wangji participated in the media revolt against the UNA by producing temporary murals and graffiti. He also probably was out there at the facility fighting monsters. Please feel free to recognize him in either one of these positions as you please.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: To continue with his media revolt, largely. I want to see if I can't trigger his power update somehow or another as well. I plan on playing a lot of catch-up overall, kind of like how Lan Wangji intends to catch-up with his organization of the apartment in New Amsterdam due to the sudden increase in greenery.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Lan Wangji is super interested in the art movement and plans on trying to continue encouraging public dissent of the UNA. Lan Wangji is also super interested in the shrines and anything related to assisting others. So, no task is too small for him! No chaos is too insignificant to draw his attention.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Feel free to bump into him throughout New Amsterdam and New Beijing in general. He works out of New Amsterdam at the gallery and also has classes online that he runs, so maybe he's their professor! Who knows. He likes to visit green bars and is more-or-less a vegetarian too. He plays at Red Wings, as mentioned, so you can see him playing music there on Monday nights. He likes to walk over taking public transport too. Depending on where they are, they might be able to catch him practicing forms/meditating/etc. on the roof of his apartment or playing his guqin.
OVERALL GOALS: Get him recognized as a political activist through his art and extend his powers. Also have him help out folks in need more often and encourage the growth of his partners' investments. RIP.

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Murphy is just arriving and will presumably remain in the vicinity of Clarke and Bellamy to make their lives worse until he gets his bearings. If you would like to blame him for your problems and maybe beat him up a little, let me know.
AREAS OF INTEREST: This cockroach is at a moral crossroads in his life and about to tip into Big Damn Hero or Full Evil territory, depending on the way the winds blow. I'd love to get him involved in situations that could push him in either direction.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Murphy will be staying at the safehouse until a better opportunity arises. He can usually be found at ye olde local tavern, getting wasted all by himself.

I've been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Final Fantasy XIV on the regular. Instead of watching all the TV shows that have been recced to me, I instead watch Achivement Hunter videos, and I'm sorry. SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Sora was in the simulation and quietly a little freaked out because most of his housemates, Riku included, were nowhere to be found. He also died and reset while on a supply run (which isn't necessarily the first time something like that has happened, coughs), but has sort of internalized that/brushed it off since it wasn't real! It's fine, everyone.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Mainly have him catch up with his CR and deal with the fact that Riku went on a canon update and how that's going to make him face the fact that he may be dead for good and therefore his life in New Amsterdam is all he's got left. I do think I'll send him on a canon update in July so he can go through those events himself, but for now I'll just be tossing him at people I've been meaning to thread with!
AREAS OF INTEREST: I've always been kind of at a loss for how to get Sora more into the plotty elements of the game, so that's one of my main goals with him right now! Getting him to look into the gold-eyed monsters and prod more at the Spinetail stuff is also on my list.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Anyone is free to handwave coming by Sora's place of work to say hi and enjoy a meal, if they want! He goes to the arcade a lot, and given his energy, tends to just wander around the city in general. Sky parks, hanging by the river, etc. etc.
OVERALL GOALS: The main thing would be playing through his arc of him accepting that the world of Meadowlark is all he's got left, because he's super-dead back home, and the tension that's going to cause between him and his canonmates since they're still hoping he can be saved. Sora will ultimately reach a level of chill and calm about this, though! His number one goal will still be helping his friends and the other Displaced however he can.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Jack was in the simulation and his big point of action was to ask the rest of the Displaced to spread the word to the rest of the New Amsterdam population about how the UNA was to blame for their current predicament, as another prong of the overall plan of destabilizing the UNA. He mainly was passing the torch on to others because he didn't want to be in the spotlight, though! He also got pulled out of the sim early by Gabriel and went with the group who went to rescue Cassius (though this was all mainly handwaved, whoops).
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: He will continue on the fuck-with-the-UNA train and will hop into anything that supports that! Other than that, just going to toss him at people.
AREAS OF INTEREST: I need to take advantage of the fact that he's working at Giles Bell and see if I can have him poke around there more in light of everything going on.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: It's easy enough to find Jack at work, for anyone else who's at Giles Bell's main building or is passing by there for whatever reason. As mentioned further up, he also frequents the fighting rings, so that's a good place to run into him too!
OVERALL GOALS: Just keep having him fight the good fight and figure out how to get home, basically.

JOB: Ya boi working private security for wealthy people who feel unsafe in this time of crisis, and doing pretty well since they saw him be all winter spooky in the simulation recently.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Moved into the sublet Daisy kindly offered, got ripped into a simulation where everything was super terrible, fought a simulated guard or two, did not rage against the machine so much as flatly stare at the machine in disapproval and annoyance.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: I don't have many yet!
AREAS OF INTEREST: I'd like to continue getting him invested in CR here. Get reluctantly attached to someone so he can have dreams about accidentally murdering them, the usual. And, honestly, the dream-sharing mechanic literally could be used for this - I haven't had the chance to give that a shot yet.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Bucky's gonna be occasionally in and out of the morningstar safehouse mostly because Daisy set an example. He doesn't care about the faction at all, but he does wanna be quietly empathetic to the new folks who aren't used to the bug-food and lack of coffee. People can probably recognize his face as familiar even if they aren't outright friendly yet.
OVERALL GOALS:
-Make close bonds
-Do terrible things to them because of the setting
-Eventually use his memory power which he hates with a burning passion to do something good for someone
-Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
-Get laid and feel bad about it
-Growing his hair back out of spite
