Surprise, it's June! We've got some new players coming in and we're nearing cap, so it's a great time to kickstart some new CR or work on something you've already got in the works.

So, here we go!

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Hawke was in the simulation as one of the constant supply run people. She likes being active and doing something, so going back to sort of normal life might even be an adjustment for her. She was a part of the attack in the simulation, CHAOS. She started to hallucinate her ex so that was fun.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Getting her a job and getting her to use her powers for the first time. And instantly panic about it. Continue to make friendships and explore her new life here.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Listed above! But she will also be into pushing back on the UNA, she's just better if you point her like a gun at someone, less so with the uplifting talks. She's all for pulling down the gov though.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Hawke is extremely friendly and extroverted. She can definitely have chatted with you at Red Wings or fought you in the fighting rings/talked with a drink after. In the simulation she put herself out there to be active and meet people, so if you want her to have connected with your character there, for sure!
OVERALL GOALS: Taking the next step with her figuring out her powers and finding a steadier place here in New Amsterdam now that she's accepted where she's at.

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: typical arrival stuff - getting settled, catching up with her friendos that are here already, reaching out and starting to make new ones. trying to deal with newfound deets of her dying. it will definitely be on her mind for a bit (someone get her drunk to vent about it she's stressed af)
AREAS OF INTEREST: really interested in several things:

empathy bond - particularly with someone she doesn't already know well. bonus if they need someone to inject sunshine in their life she will help with that (she's a cheerful, upbeat, teasing type)

working with her power. she was into plants and gardening before, but here she can do the same thing without the baggage of hearing her planet scream at her (like literally she can hear the planet's screams) so playing around with that. Anyone need help with a dying cactus call ya girl aerith

AREAS OF INTEREST: Uh! I work for a nonprofit in a profession people generally don't get without an in-depth explanation, so let's just say I am a fancy therapist who focuses on behavior. Anyway, as you can guess, I am super into behavior and psychology. If you guessed that my favorite is abnormal psychology, you're not wrong! I listen to a lot of podcasts and know way too much about Mesopotamia. I read Old English at parties. I like to guide people through museums in my spare time (fun fact: I was in a volunteer docent). Pretty big into art history generally and can sort of read/listen to French semi-fluently. Sort of. I play a lot of Animal Crossing, Zelda, and Pokemon. I am openly out at work, so I get to function as an advocate in ways I didn't think I would be able to also. Uhhhh. I have been known to talk about Persona 3, Evangelion, Devilman (the og is my fave), and MXTX canons (particularly the one my boy is from). Really enthusiastic and difficult to make anything not chill. I am extremely dry or lean into horrible puns. Love me a ton of horror movies and sci-fi. If you like to chat a lot, I can usually keep up no problem. Have been described as: "intense, but in a good way."

POWER: Truth Compulsion or Veracity! This is (hopefully) going to take another branch soon as well.
JOB: He is a part-time art teacher online and a part-time receptionist at a local gallery in New Amsterdam. He also plays live music at Red Wings on Monday nights with Wei Wuxian. He also is secretly Meadowlark's equivalent to Banksy at the moment.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Lan Wangji participated in the media revolt against the UNA by producing temporary murals and graffiti. He also probably was out there at the facility fighting monsters. Please feel free to recognize him in either one of these positions as you please.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: To continue with his media revolt, largely. I want to see if I can't trigger his power update somehow or another as well. I plan on playing a lot of catch-up overall, kind of like how Lan Wangji intends to catch-up with his organization of the apartment in New Amsterdam due to the sudden increase in greenery.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Lan Wangji is super interested in the art movement and plans on trying to continue encouraging public dissent of the UNA. Lan Wangji is also super interested in the shrines and anything related to assisting others. So, no task is too small for him! No chaos is too insignificant to draw his attention.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Feel free to bump into him throughout New Amsterdam and New Beijing in general. He works out of New Amsterdam at the gallery and also has classes online that he runs, so maybe he's their professor! Who knows. He likes to visit green bars and is more-or-less a vegetarian too. He plays at Red Wings, as mentioned, so you can see him playing music there on Monday nights. He likes to walk over taking public transport too. Depending on where they are, they might be able to catch him practicing forms/meditating/etc. on the roof of his apartment or playing his guqin.
OVERALL GOALS: Get him recognized as a political activist through his art and extend his powers. Also have him help out folks in need more often and encourage the growth of his partners' investments. RIP.

AREAS OF INTEREST: This cockroach is at a moral crossroads in his life and about to tip into Big Damn Hero or Full Evil territory, depending on the way the winds blow. I'd love to get him involved in situations that could push him in either direction.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Murphy will be staying at the safehouse until a better opportunity arises. He can usually be found at ye olde local tavern, getting wasted all by himself.

I've been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Final Fantasy XIV on the regular. Instead of watching all the TV shows that have been recced to me, I instead watch Achivement Hunter videos, and I'm sorry. Been loving the Final Fantasy VII resurgence caused by the remake as it's one of my favorite games ever. My character list is here and gives a better overview of my interests. SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Sora was in the simulation and quietly a little freaked out because most of his housemates, Riku included, were nowhere to be found. He also died and reset while on a supply run (which isn't necessarily the first time something like that has happened, coughs), but has sort of internalized that/brushed it off since it wasn't real! It's fine, everyone.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Mainly have him catch up with his CR and deal with the fact that Riku went on a canon update and how that's going to make him face the fact that he may be dead for good and therefore his life in New Amsterdam is all he's got left. I do think I'll send him on a canon update in July so he can go through those events himself, but for now I'll just be tossing him at people I've been meaning to thread with!
AREAS OF INTEREST: I've always been kind of at a loss for how to get Sora more into the plotty elements of the game, so that's one of my main goals with him right now! Getting him to look into the gold-eyed monsters and prod more at the Spinetail stuff is also on my list.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Anyone is free to handwave coming by Sora's place of work to say hi and enjoy a meal, if they want! He goes to the arcade a lot, and given his energy, tends to just wander around the city in general. Sky parks, hanging by the river, etc. etc.
OVERALL GOALS: The main thing would be playing through his arc of him accepting that the world of Meadowlark is all he's got left, because he's super-dead back home, and the tension that's going to cause between him and his canonmates since they're still hoping he can be saved. Sora will ultimately reach a level of chill and calm about this, though! His number one goal will still be helping his friends and the other Displaced however he can.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Moved into the sublet Daisy kindly offered, got ripped into a simulation where everything was super terrible, fought a simulated guard or two, did not rage against the machine so much as flatly stare at the machine in disapproval and annoyance.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: I don't have many yet!
AREAS OF INTEREST: I'd like to continue getting him invested in CR here. Get reluctantly attached to someone so he can have dreams about accidentally murdering them, the usual. And, honestly, the dream-sharing mechanic literally could be used for this - I haven't had the chance to give that a shot yet.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Bucky's gonna be occasionally in and out of the morningstar safehouse mostly because Daisy set an example. He doesn't care about the faction at all, but he does wanna be quietly empathetic to the new folks who aren't used to the bug-food and lack of coffee. People can probably recognize his face as familiar even if they aren't outright friendly yet.
OVERALL GOALS:
-Make close bonds
-Do terrible things to them because of the setting
-Eventually use his memory power which he hates with a burning passion to do something good for someone
-Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
-Get laid and feel bad about it

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Recover, mostly. Make sure everyone thanks him properly for busting people out of the simulation.
AREAS OF INTEREST: He's got some sweet deets on ALIGN and is currently working on chasing those leads. His niche in the game seems to be solving the mysteries of the implants while continuing to force Cassius to be his friend.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Gabriel doesn't have a real job, per se, but he does some freelance bouncing at bars and clubs here and there (he's very buff) and also is the bookie's worst nightmare at fight club, betting for and against people and very rarely fighting himself. You might run into him there! He lives with Jack in a shitty apartment and is otherwise a serious soldier-type with a few decades of experience in black ops so if your character needs any kind of training he's a good guy to hit up. You can read more about him here to see if anything strikes your fancy!
OVERALL GOALS: Continue poking around the seedy underbelly of New Amsterdam to see how many crimes he can get away with. GOTTA SOLVE THE MYSTERY OF ALL THIS, maybe. He doesn't trust Morningstar or the other displaced or anyone, really, so I'm interested in having him get his hands dirty as he tries to figure out what's going on and what he can do about it. He wasn't a huge fan of the UN back home and he likes them even less now that they rule the world! He will be very pleased to see them so kneecapped after the events of the simulation.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Bellamy went on a few supply runs, got punched by Jason, and made a rallying post with Rey!
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Bell is now much more personally invested in fucking over the UNA, so I imagine he'll get more closely involved in that. I don't think he's at the point where he'll straight up join Morningstar yet, but I'd love for characters to try to convince him! Other than that, likely keeping in touch with the people he met in the sim, because he's protective.
AREAS OF INTEREST:
- taking down the man??? I'd like to get Bellamy more involved in the anti-UNA stuff, whether that's Morningstar or a new, smaller group.

- Closer CR! Right now, Bellamy is mostly hyper focused on Clarke (and soon Murphy), so I'd like to expand that circle more and get him attached to more people. He made a lot of good connections in the sim and I want to keep that momentum going!

-Empathy bond stuff! Dreamshare stuff! Forcing him to deal with his trauma!

HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Bellamy checks in at the safehouse every so often, but he also spends a lot of time at Red Wings, because Clarke. He's not a super efflusive guy, but it's easy enough to pull him into a conversation, and he'll likely say hi to any other displaced he might see around.
OVERALL GOALS: Mostly stronger connections, getting him to move past a lot of his baggage from canon, and suffering. I'm always up for suffering.

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: he'll be doing some involuntary weeding and vegetable farming for a while before going into the warehouse. i think jason's running into him there at some point and roy will likely go crash at his house for a while. after that, he'll be out and about the city, familiarizing himself and checking out black market outlets for tech, especially. also probably looking into any of the gangs jason's bossing around. he could reasonably be found anywhere technology or engineering related, space ships included.
AREAS OF INTEREST: superheroing, inventing and engineering and tinkering, archery, also addiction recovery stuff.

JOB: He and Clarke own and run Red Wings, a Displaced-owned and staffed sports bar that is now very popular! He's also popular on Cooltalk where he has a healthy following thanks to his oft-neglected side hustle as a Mentalist.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: In the simulation, spear-heading a self-sacrificial let's get ourselves tortured for the greater good initiative for those so inclined. Judas punished him for this by isolating him into his own personal nuclear apocalypse. It's been an adventure!
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Recovering from the above! He'll be taking some time to breathe and reflect and be in nature, so you'll more often find him drifting around the city and sitting in quiet corners than you will at the bar, a complete 180 from the usual. Also he's going to be apartment-hunting with Tony Stark who he has moved into his currently too-small apartment against his better judgement so you may bump into them furniture shopping or checking out new neighbourhoods for transport links and local food.
AREAS OF INTEREST: My personal big goal is to make the absolute most of his newfound ability to take control of people's autonomous processes (though that's a yikes after this most recent event whoops) i.e. troublemakers get ready to WET YOURSELVES, literally. Other than that his main interest is helping the Displaced in whatever way he can, now with a side order of not by having them hurl themselves into danger for the greater good. Also magic/symbolism aligned elements... eventually, if I ever get around to it. As far as CR dreams go, I would love to get him into dialogue with people who aren't big fans of him and his questionable life choices, especially now that he's in a period of reflection.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Cloud was a new arrival last month so he was not inside of the simulation at all. He mostly just tried to figure out what the hell was going on and learn to survive in this new world. He and Tifa did get a little involved toward the end of the event as they decided to go investigate the lab and the mutant monsters. I'll probably be tagging real late into that log with Cloud and his homemade nail bat, if anyone wants to backtag some asskicking. He can bash the fuck out of them if people want to swoop in and deliver the coup de grâce.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Well, now that everyone has been released from the simulation, I'd like for him to meet a whole bunch of new people/start building more permanent connections with the other Displaced, maybe find a more permanent residence, and get that job I mentioned. Initially, Tifa was the one who kind of prodded him into thinking about helping during the sim stuff, as he wasn't yet viewing it as "his" problem to deal with. But I think more and more, the parallels between the UNA and Shinra will inspire him to get more involved in those efforts. Also, another one of his canon mates (Aerith) is showing up this month so that will be a big messy situation for him to cope with.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Well I think I covered a lot of this already, but I want to start planting the seeds of stability/permanency as right now Cloud is still very much in a FOMO spiral due to all the important stuff that he'd been involved in back at home. Due to Aerith's arrival from an earlier canon point, I think he might put two and two together and unclench a little.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Cloud will hang around Tifa and Aerith a lot so if your character knows one of them then feel free to assume they know (or at least have heard of) Cloud as well. JOB: Clarke did a lot of stuff and could continue doing that, but as she's tried harder and harder to act like she's not a Leader in this world, she keeps doing leadership things. So, she's only working as the head of Red Wings while continuing her online medical school courses.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Clarke spent much of her time in the simulation trying to balance out the decisions of people around her. She was the spokesperson for Operation Hope, which doubled as a decision for her to get the Displaced out in the open so that they could begin to impact this world more directly. That was her motivation, and it worked out. She helped lead a fire brigade inside of the simulation.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Clarke will be spending the next month looking for a larger apartment now that Red Wings has suddenly become a profitable business out of nowhere, as she would like at least three rooms. She'll be hiring people for Red Wings—they're especially looking for bartenders, cooks, and dishwashers to keep the workflow going in the backend. Anyone with talent in the kitchen will probably be shoved back there if Clarke finds out!
AREAS OF INTEREST:

→ Leadership and long-term role: Clarke has been with the game since the beginning. She's been through all of the events (though one she sat out and heard about second hand). She also spearheads the bar with Stephen, so there will be areas there where she is people's boss. Clarke is very people-oriented and will help someone figure out what direction they may need in the world if they're feeling a little lost. If your character needs someone to boss them around, Clarke is their gal.

→ Red Wings: Clarke and Stephen Strange both run the bar! You can see the information on this here. Stephen is a little more hands on than Clarke because she's doing too much and is going to crumble under the weight of it all.

Medical stuff: Clarke can bandage someone up and I can pretend I know a single lick of anything about medicine. I don't. But good news: neither do the writers on The 100.

HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES:

→ Medical things! If the thread is just a quick patch up, we can easily handwave this.

→ Being here since day one, Clarke can help with knowing if someone else's CR has been around before, as long as they've been on the network.

→ Red Wings: If your character works at Red Wings, they know who Clarke is! She is their boss. Clarke tends to play counterpoint to Stephen a lot to create balance, so they aren't necessarily a singularly united front.

OVERALL GOALS: Clarke's goal is to get the power to rewrite the reality of this world into a better place (specifically: the planet itself so that it's not dying) so that she can bring her people to it afterward. This is a massive goal, and not one that I'm intending for her to succeed at. As a result, she's interested in dream training, but isn't necessarily the best for teaching. She knows how she got better at controlling her subconscious (spoilers: it involved killing someone in her mind … and failing …).

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: now that he has a master, he'll be more directed! he does not know what that direction is yet. but he's going to tentatively engage with the world more now, bc as a servant his goal is to achieve whatever ren wants achieved, and he knows that is to help this world. note: he still doesn't actually give a shit about the humans or their lives. he is just trying to understand what "helping this world" would even MEAN and how humans like... work. he is not happy about this.

AREAS OF INTEREST:

• the main thing is probably the shrines which he's mostly regarded with puzzled disdain up until now; they're a crossroads of "only culture i am interested in (mine)" and "how do humans work? we just don't know" that can actually be explained to him by other displaced, so he'll stop ignoring those lmao.


• he's still mostly interested in spiritualism because he wants to know whether gods just straight up don't exist in this world or whether they've abandoned it. this isn't really something he's going to get ANSWERS from any time soon, but he will persistently take interest in historical sites where divine presence SHOULD be, and he'll possibly attempt shinto rituals even knowing he's not the type they would work for. he just really wants gods back, please???


• like i said HE WANTS A TEAHOUSE. it would be an environment that would soothe some of his homesickness, and where he could actually put his skillset to use. unfortunately even though he could certainly manage the running of the place, he is not a business-savvy creature and has no idea how to like. actually make it happen. he's undoubtedly befriended sex workers bc he used to spend all his time in the youkai red light district, they're his usual company, but he doesn't have the knowledge necessary to propose a business to them. help a fox realise his dreams.

HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: since he's attempting to puzzle out What Is Humans, he's likely to direct that at other displaced! your character is welcome to have been confronted by bizarre philosophical questions about human nature from a fox boy who is absolutely incapable of accepting an emotional or subjective answer. the other main places to run into him are the red light district and fight clubs, because he's struggling to pacify his more violent youkai nature right now without a proper shinshi bond.

OVERALL GOALS: the teahouse is a material goal but character-wise, generally my main interest with tomoe is the interaction between an immortal existence and a mortal world. this is ULTRA long-term and filled with difficulties, it's just what is typically on my mind; canonically youkai are incompatible with humans because they completely lack the ability to move on or change, so that's A Conflict in a world filled with humans that he can't avoid.
