Surprise, it's June! We've got some new players coming in and we're nearing cap, so it's a great time to kickstart some new CR or work on something you've already got in the works.

So, here we go!

AREAS OF INTEREST: really interested in several things:

empathy bond - particularly with someone she doesn't already know well. bonus if they need someone to inject sunshine in their life she will help with that (she's a cheerful, upbeat, teasing type)

working with her power. she was into plants and gardening before, but here she can do the same thing without the baggage of hearing her planet scream at her (like literally she can hear the planet's screams) so playing around with that. Anyone need help with a dying cactus call ya girl aerith

AREAS OF INTEREST: Uh! I work for a nonprofit in a profession people generally don't get without an in-depth explanation, so let's just say I am a fancy therapist who focuses on behavior. Anyway, as you can guess, I am super into behavior and psychology. If you guessed that my favorite is abnormal psychology, you're not wrong! I listen to a lot of podcasts and know way too much about Mesopotamia. I read Old English at parties. I like to guide people through museums in my spare time (fun fact: I was in a volunteer docent). Pretty big into art history generally and can sort of read/listen to French semi-fluently. Sort of. I play a lot of Animal Crossing, Zelda, and Pokemon. I am openly out at work, so I get to function as an advocate in ways I didn't think I would be able to also. Uhhhh. I have been known to talk about Persona 3, Evangelion, Devilman (the og is my fave), and MXTX canons (particularly the one my boy is from). Really enthusiastic and difficult to make anything not chill. I am extremely dry or lean into horrible puns. Love me a ton of horror movies and sci-fi. JOB: He is a part-time art teacher online and a part-time receptionist at a local gallery in New Amsterdam. He also plays live music at Red Wings on Monday nights with Wei Wuxian. He also is secretly Meadowlark's equivalent to Banksy at the moment.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Lan Wangji participated in the media revolt against the UNA by producing temporary murals and graffiti. He also probably was out there at the facility fighting monsters. Please feel free to recognize him in either one of these positions as you please.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: To continue with his media revolt, largely. I want to see if I can't trigger his power update somehow or another as well. I plan on playing a lot of catch-up overall, kind of like how Lan Wangji intends to catch-up with his organization of the apartment in New Amsterdam due to the sudden increase in greenery.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Lan Wangji is super interested in the art movement and plans on trying to continue encouraging public dissent of the UNA. Lan Wangji is also super interested in the shrines and anything related to assisting others. So, no task is too small for him! No chaos is too insignificant to draw his attention.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Feel free to bump into him throughout New Amsterdam and New Beijing in general. He works out of New Amsterdam at the gallery and also has classes online that he runs, so maybe he's their professor! Who knows. He likes to visit green bars and is more-or-less a vegetarian too. He plays at Red Wings, as mentioned, so you can see him playing music there on Monday nights. He likes to walk over taking public transport too. Depending on where they are, they might be able to catch him practicing forms/meditating/etc. on the roof of his apartment or playing his guqin.
OVERALL GOALS: Get him recognized as a political activist through his art and extend his powers. Also have him help out folks in need more often and encourage the growth of his partners' investments. RIP.

AREAS OF INTEREST: This cockroach is at a moral crossroads in his life and about to tip into Big Damn Hero or Full Evil territory, depending on the way the winds blow. I'd love to get him involved in situations that could push him in either direction.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Murphy will be staying at the safehouse until a better opportunity arises. He can usually be found at ye olde local tavern, getting wasted all by himself.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Gabe was in the simulation and then broke out of the simulation with his illicit UN implant and then held a bunch of people's hands so everyone could go save Cassius.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Recover, mostly. Make sure everyone thanks him properly for busting people out of the simulation.
AREAS OF INTEREST: He's got some sweet deets on ALIGN and is currently working on chasing those leads. His niche in the game seems to be solving the mysteries of the implants while continuing to force Cassius to be his friend.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Gabriel doesn't have a real job, per se, but he does some freelance bouncing at bars and clubs here and there (he's very buff) and also is the bookie's worst nightmare at fight club, betting for and against people and very rarely fighting himself. You might run into him there! He lives with Jack in a shitty apartment and is otherwise a serious soldier-type with a few decades of experience in black ops so if your character needs any kind of training he's a good guy to hit up. You can read more about him here to see if anything strikes your fancy!
OVERALL GOALS: Continue poking around the seedy underbelly of New Amsterdam to see how many crimes he can get away with. GOTTA SOLVE THE MYSTERY OF ALL THIS, maybe. He doesn't trust Morningstar or the other displaced or anyone, really, so I'm interested in having him get his hands dirty as he tries to figure out what's going on and what he can do about it. He wasn't a huge fan of the UN back home and he likes them even less now that they rule the world! He will be very pleased to see them so kneecapped after the events of the simulation.

JOB: He and Clarke own and run Red Wings, a Displaced-owned and staffed sports bar that is now very popular! He's also popular on Cooltalk where he has a healthy following thanks to his oft-neglected side hustle as a Mentalist.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: In the simulation, spear-heading a self-sacrificial let's get ourselves tortured for the greater good initiative for those so inclined. Judas punished him for this by isolating him into his own personal nuclear apocalypse. It's been an adventure!
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Recovering from the above! He'll be taking some time to breathe and reflect and be in nature, so you'll more often find him drifting around the city and sitting in quiet corners than you will at the bar, a complete 180 from the usual. Also he's going to be apartment-hunting with Tony Stark who he has moved into his currently too-small apartment against his better judgement so you may bump into them furniture shopping or checking out new neighbourhoods for transport links and local food.
AREAS OF INTEREST: My personal big goal is to make the absolute most of his newfound ability to take control of people's autonomous processes (though that's a yikes after this most recent event whoops) i.e. troublemakers get ready to WET YOURSELVES, literally. Other than that his main interest is helping the Displaced in whatever way he can, now with a side order of not by having them hurl themselves into danger for the greater good. Also magic/symbolism aligned elements... eventually, if I ever get around to it. As far as CR dreams go, I would love to get him into dialogue with people who aren't big fans of him and his questionable life choices, especially now that he's in a period of reflection.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Although they may not see very much of him there this month, anybody who works at Red Wings will have him as a boss and eventually see a lot of him! Otherwise passing in parks, shopping, exercising both out and about and at the gym, maybe briefly making appearances at the safehouse though he won't stay as long or visit as frequently as usual due to avoiding underground spaces. Anybody he's relatively close with or has had Supply Run Experiences with lately will be given his existing address on request so feel free to handwave in some little hangouts.
OVERALL GOALS: Ultimately he wants to come to understand the dimensional and temporal shifts that have landed everybody up in here and make sure that they're stable and won't damage the linked universes. Also how in the fuck did you hit mute on my magic. What is the blue glow and why. Dreams? Explain. I want him to come to terms with being neither a sorcerer nor a surgeon and realise actually he's built himself a very nice life without those things thank you. With a side order of interpersonal drama and found family softness.

Lately I've been getting back into anime and I'm super into isekai series which I blame on DWRP's jamjar phenomenon. I also love LA shows of varying quality like The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, and Wynonna Earp for example. Non-fandom wise, I tend to talk about my job a lot (I'm a social worker). I also like playing board games and D&D/Pathfinder, recommending music to others, and pretending I go to the gym on any kind of regular basis.

JOB: He doesn't have one but I would like to get him involved in some type of delivery service. Maybe starting out as just a lowly courier and then some day stop working for someone else and working for himself due to a growing loyal customer base, etc.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Cloud was a new arrival last month so he was not inside of the simulation at all. He mostly just tried to figure out what the hell was going on and learn to survive in this new world. He and Tifa did get a little involved toward the end of the event as they decided to go investigate the lab and the mutant monsters. I'll probably be tagging real late into that log with Cloud and his homemade nail bat, if anyone wants to backtag some asskicking. He can bash the fuck out of them if people want to swoop in and deliver the coup de grâce.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Well, now that everyone has been released from the simulation, I'd like for him to meet a whole bunch of new people/start building more permanent connections with the other Displaced, maybe find a more permanent residence, and get that job I mentioned. Initially, Tifa was the one who kind of prodded him into thinking about helping during the sim stuff, as he wasn't yet viewing it as "his" problem to deal with. But I think more and more, the parallels between the UNA and Shinra will inspire him to get more involved in those efforts. Also, another one of his canon mates (Aerith) is showing up this month so that will be a big messy situation for him to cope with.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Well I think I covered a lot of this already, but I want to start planting the seeds of stability/permanency as right now Cloud is still very much in a FOMO spiral due to all the important stuff that he'd been involved in back at home. Due to Aerith's arrival from an earlier canon point, I think he might put two and two together and unclench a little.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Cloud will hang around Tifa and Aerith a lot so if your character knows one of them then feel free to assume they know (or at least have heard of) Cloud as well. Other than that, I'm pretty chill & flexible so if you have any ideas then just let me know and we can probably implement them!

HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Nothing in particular yet, though he's at the safehouse for the first few days of course so it would've been easy to encounter him there.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Life came at me fast last month with a move cross-country and a new job, but Nate was in the sim getting bloodied and having an unpleasant time. :)
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Definitely want to engage more people bartending...in crime...while fighting or traveling...continue to make friends, basically. Please, God. Be friends with this nerd.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Crimes I want Nate to find some way for his power to come up, and this may not happen in the next month, just...more opportunities for it to manifest even if he doesn't realize what the Hell it is or why it's happening (or how to control it). He's used it a couple times, without knowing. Is pretty convinced he doesn't have one.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Nate works as a manager and bartender at Red Wings bar, which means we can handwave pretty much any introduction interaction via that particular venue. He may have also been seen in the fighting rings on occasion, or scaling buildings without climbing equipment. You may also catch him on a rooftop!
OVERALL GOALS: Open to anything and everything!

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: tomoe was in the simulation and helped wreak havoc towards the end, but otherwise mostly hovered protectively around ren amamiya bc (points) That's His Master Now

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: now that he has a master, he'll be more directed! he does not know what that direction is yet. but he's going to tentatively engage with the world more now, bc as a servant his goal is to achieve whatever ren wants achieved, and he knows that is to help this world. note: he still doesn't actually give a shit about the humans or their lives. he is just trying to understand what "helping this world" would even MEAN and how humans like... work. he is not happy about this.

AREAS OF INTEREST:

• the main thing is probably the shrines which he's mostly regarded with puzzled disdain up until now; they're a crossroads of "only culture i am interested in (mine)" and "how do humans work? we just don't know" that can actually be explained to him by other displaced, so he'll stop ignoring those lmao.


• he's still mostly interested in spiritualism because he wants to know whether gods just straight up don't exist in this world or whether they've abandoned it. this isn't really something he's going to get ANSWERS from any time soon, but he will persistently take interest in historical sites where divine presence SHOULD be, and he'll possibly attempt shinto rituals even knowing he's not the type they would work for. he just really wants gods back, please???


• like i said HE WANTS A TEAHOUSE. it would be an environment that would soothe some of his homesickness, and where he could actually put his skillset to use. unfortunately even though he could certainly manage the running of the place, he is not a business-savvy creature and has no idea how to like. actually make it happen. he's undoubtedly befriended sex workers bc he used to spend all his time in the youkai red light district, they're his usual company, but he doesn't have the knowledge necessary to propose a business to them. help a fox realise his dreams.

HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: since he's attempting to puzzle out What Is Humans, he's likely to direct that at other displaced! your character is welcome to have been confronted by bizarre philosophical questions about human nature from a fox boy who is absolutely incapable of accepting an emotional or subjective answer. the other main places to run into him are the red light district and fight clubs, because he's struggling to pacify his more violent youkai nature right now without a proper shinshi bond.

OVERALL GOALS: the teahouse is a material goal but character-wise, generally my main interest with tomoe is the interaction between an immortal existence and a mortal world. this is ULTRA long-term and filled with difficulties, it's just what is typically on my mind; canonically youkai are incompatible with humans because they completely lack the ability to move on or change, so that's A Conflict in a world filled with humans that he can't avoid.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Got caught up in that whole simulation thing and took part in a rather bracing regime of torture and medical experimentation which all too likely had a very negligible effect on his psyche. Honest. He's fine.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: I'd love for Wade to try to stretch his healing muscles a little more, since I'm planning on giving him an upgrade for this past event. He's been using it subconsciously for a while but he doesn't realize he has a power yet.
AREAS OF INTEREST: More friends! More opportunities for mercenary work! More cooking for people because he's basically an Italian grandmother in a man's body. Please let him win you over with food. That makes up for his shitty personality, right? Right??
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Wade’s pretty much got a steady shift at Red Wings, so if your character either works there or frequents there as a customer, odds are he’s caught sight of you more than once.
