Hi everyone! It's the end of the year already, somehow! We're glad that we've all somehow made it, despite how rough this year has been, and we hope everyone can end it on a decent note.

Without further ado,

◉ here's the December calendar, which provides a quick rundown of the month. There isn't much beyond OOC dates this month, but it's a good reference if you want to keep track of when things will be happening.

◉ The Arrival Log is up, and those who will be coming into Meadowlark's world for the first time will be waking up to a very interesting set of circumstances! Please let us know if you have any questions, and we hope you enjoy your time on the moon.

◉ The Arrival Log, plus the Quarry Log that will be taking place alongside it, are what will wrap up the year for all of us. We hope that you enjoy the plot revelations and other tidbits that you can play with, and we as a mod team are very excited for what the future of Meadowlark will hold! More about that can be found in the OOC notes at the end of each log.

◉ For a rundown of everything that's happened so far in game, check out our The Story So Far page. This guy is your big ctrl+f friend. It needs updates for the past couple months, so we'll try to get to that at some point (most likely in January).

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: In the AU!! She retained her real memories (further explanation here), which has been uhhhh a laugh and a half for her.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: She will be handling things by attempting to destroy people in the fighting rings and not thinking about what her weird-ass reaction to the AU event says about her :) She'll scream at anyone who tries to talk to her about it :) :) :)

AREAS OF INTEREST: OH BOY EVERYTHING. She's a BCE gal suddenly finding herself in a 26th century world, so very many things are unfamiliar to her, and that's a trope I love to play around with. She's violent, has a strong penchant for cruelty, and is prone to explosive outbursts and meltdowns, so if anyone wants to deal with that in any form hmu. She has discovered that she likes using the empathy bond to make other people feel her own pain and anger, but hates when it makes her feel other people's nice and pleasant feelings instead. She's also fairly interested in efforts being made to get home, so for those with strong stomachs and a high tolerance for her flavor of bullshit, it'll be possible to work with her - but she's still volatile at best, even with allies.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Feel free to have your character spot her wandering the city (she sometimes uses public transportation, but mostly she just walks), carrying her belongings in a ratty duffle that doubles as a sleeping bag holder. She also has a titanium bat, because so far everyone has been smart enough not to give her access to swords/knives. She generally tucks herself into out-of-the-way alleys for the night, but rests, eats, etc. in more public places during the day. She's homeless nomadic, tyvm, and while she might eventually nab one of the teeny pod apartments, it's not a big priority for her right now.
OVERALL GOALS: ICly, she wants to go home so she can continue her prolonged and obsessive quest for vengeance against the woman she's earmarked as her rival (said rival is less than thrilled about this earmarking and just wants her to go away); it's literally all that keeps her going and is what she's built her entire life around, and she feels that without it she has nothing. OOCly, I don't really have any concrete plans yet; I'm just here to delve into her fucked-up psychology because I find it fascinating. Honestly, she's still kind of settling in; she was only in the game for a month before the AU event kicked off, so.

JOB: Harley might not be looking for gainful employment at the top so much as she'll be keeping her ear to the ground and maybe seeing where she can apply her rather unique set of skills, but she's not opposed to getting involved with some particularly unsavory characters if anyone has an in for her on something a little... seedier.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: N/A
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Really just getting settled, meeting people both outside the AU and once everyone's linked up again; I have no in-depth wishes apart from wanting her to meet as many new people as possible and she's relatively easy to throw at anyone because she has no concept of boundaries and will gladly dominate any conversation over a more taciturn type. Come clubbing with her! Accompany her on a shopping trip!
AREAS OF INTEREST: I'm really into the idea of diverse and varied CR as a player — the wider, the better. This is a character who's prone to negative CR for sure if you don't mind that, but she also manages to endear herself to other people in the same vein so it really depends on how they gel together. A few specifics I'd love to explore in game in terms of CR types to bounce her off of: fellow criminals, fellow slightly reformed criminals, bad boys and girls, people who want an enabler to show them how to loosen up and have a good time, people who want to see if they can catch her in a more vulnerable moment, people she can try to wear down with her sparkling personality and/or shameless flirting, folks who might be interested in being psychoanalyzed at random, more hero types, more non-humans! You name it, I probably want it.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: She's very forward and won't hesitate to approach anyone, so we can always skip intros there or just assume she's already at least semi-annoyed your character (apologies in advance to anyone who has to be stuck on arrivals with her).
OVERALL GOALS: Plot! Come at me! I am genuinely open to whatever and really just operate under the philosophy of "let's smash these two internet barbies together and see what happens" most of the time.

JOB: Gabriel doesn't have a real job, per se, but he does some freelance bouncing at bars and clubs here and there (he's very buff) and also is the bookie's worst nightmare at fight club, betting for and against people and very rarely fighting himself.
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: I...kind of fell off the wagon last month for various holiday and pandemic reasons but I still do hope to hit up a thread or two on the previous log! Mostly Gabe was Quarry prepping (because he's insane and enters it voluntarily) and being mad that Jack is cramping his style. His plotting post for the AU is here!
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Gabe is gonna FIGHT in the Quarry and is either going to attempt to murder everyone and then himself so Jack can win and leave or convince Jack to do it. That's it, baybe. I haven't quite nailed down death plans but if he does bite it I'm ready and willing for out-of-AU CR and meetings if that tickles your fancy! If he's not dead when the bomb goes off he will be making his best attempt to vanish into the night.
AREAS OF INTEREST: He just wants to be friends with Cassius
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Again, he does not have a real job but he hangs around fight club most often. You might run into him there! He lives with Jack in a shitty apartment and is otherwise a serious soldier-type with a few decades of experience in black ops so if your character needs any kind of training he's a good guy to hit up. You can read more about him here to see if anything strikes your fancy!
OVERALL GOALS: Well NOW he will be very angry that he basically got sucked into some kind of alternate dream world, but in the long term he will continue poking around the seedy underbelly of New Amsterdam to see how many crimes he can get away with. GOTTA SOLVE THE MYSTERY OF ALL THIS, maybe. He doesn't trust Morningstar or the other displaced or anyone, really, so I'm interested in having him get his hands dirty as he tries to figure out what's going on and what he can do about it.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: HE'S NEW so here's a quick summary: dick is the first robin. he used to be part of a circus troupe and was taken in by bruce wayne when his parents tragically died in front of him!!! sounds familiar. he was robin for a long time, then eventually decided to be HIS OWN MAN and took on the name nightwing instead. he's led a lot of superhero teams in the dcu, and is generally a guy most superheroes trust and respect highly. but also, his apartment is always a mess and he eats too much cereal because he's too busy superheroing to cook. he's friendly, jokey, an adrenaline junkie, but also pretty smart! and he can do sick backflips.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: so dick is going to mostly be trying to catch up as much as possible, since much like his batdad, he's obsessive with information and details. otherwise, it'll be a lot of settling in, a lot of family drama, that kind of thing!
AREAS OF INTEREST: cr of any kind! dick is a superhero (and formerly a cop) so there's a natural avenue there for any other superhero/cop types, plus he tends to be very friendly and extroverted. he's super easy to just stroll up and talk to!
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: I CAN'T THINK OF ANY YET since things are so unusual with this arrival log/the au event, but SOON.
OVERALL GOALS:
- cr, both positive and negative, and specifically cr outside of his canon circle! he needs to expand his social circle ok it's like all superheroes normally
- if anyone wants to catch him up on the world's inequalities, that is definitely something dick will be interested in and want to help with

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: OH MAN DID A LOT HAPPEN which is usually the case with him, since he's nosy af and involved in anything he can get into. UH for big stuff he got into a bunch of messy CR drama, pissed people off by saying 'I do what I want' and breaking rules, and then ended up in the AU where he's a shrike-turned-kestrel informant and is going to be killed in the quarry.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Well he's definitely NOT going to be dealing with the fact that being murdered in the au will bring up issues from the last time he was murdered, which he mostly repressed and never really dealt with. Aside from that, he's going to be fretting over everyone else being potentially traumatized, and since he's heavily involved in investigating metaplot stuff (especially regarding Johann and Henries) I'll be throwing him into whatever is available on that front.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Mostly mentioned above, but metaplot stuff! Lance is very focused on problem solving and very good at it, plus he and people he cares about are under the pressure of 'if we don't figure this out fast enough and get sent home randomly, we're dead', so he's fixated on that. He's also invested in a few other areas (he hates the mandatory safehouse thing, for instance) and usually can't pass up getting involved in whatever comes up, so he's in a little bit of almost everything.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: He's been extremely reclusive the past month or so in normal ml, but there's lots of handwaved opportunity for the AU! Hit me up if you wanna plan something for that.
OVERALL GOALS: Just seeing how things go! I'm really into letting things develop naturally, especially since I love when unpredictable stuff happens, so no real plans except being involved in stuff and seeing how it goes. c:

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: kyna is going to kill someone in the quarry, watch a lot of friends die, and then die herself, so she's going to be A Mess coming out of it. she's also going to be angry, because she's sick of being powerless and jerked around. annnd there's that whole grappling with the fact that she has a bunch of memories she now knows aren't real.
AREAS OF INTEREST: 100% full speed into the stuff they've learned with the au. she's going to throw herself totally into both mastering the powers and learning more about the gods.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: kyna works at red wings, so that's the easiest way! generally she's a super extrovert, a total flirt, and very sarcastic/teasing. she'll be a bit more subdued after the au, though. also, if anyone wants to handwave au stuff that we haven't planned already, just let me know!

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: was a shyster agent in a dystopian AU, as you do. schmoozed a lot, flirted a little, got in some sticky situations, was concerned to varying degrees about wade and kyna quarry-ing.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: sam'll be watching this month's quarry with Great Interest and then probably poking around in the parts of the volary he's normally not supposed to be in. you know, sam things.
AREAS OF INTEREST:
• i'm really enjoying the cr he's making, and i'd love to keep working on what he's got and keep building more. especially interested in characters who aren't particularly close with his brother, because he needs to go out and make his own friends!!!
• if your character would sleep with him, please advise and let's make that happen, lmfao. samuel drake: open for one-night stands and potential fwb with beautiful women who are interested in him. especially if you want to deal with him not calling after, lmfao.
• if your character would NOT sleep with him but would flirt endlessly with him, please also advise. generally only interested in flirting with women, flirting with men would require longterm cr goals, lmao.
• i love: arguments, interpersonal drama, complicated CR, tension (positive or negative) in what would otherwise be mundane settings, and the occasional bit of actiony nonsense. i am less your best bet for curtain-shopping levels of slice of life.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: in the AU, sam does a lot of glad-handing with people who might be Worth Knowing, works with others in the company. drinks at congregation bars. wears loud suits. i'm v. into "they knew each other in the AU and now they gotta re-meet in the real world" as a thing.

outside the AU, sam works at a casino, bums around red wings and a variety of other bars, and lives in the same apartment as nathan drake and wade wilson. beyond that, it's reasonable to have seen/encountered him on the underground fighting circuit, in the red-light district, wandering around rooftops, climbing buildings, fucking around on the network, and anywhere a party's happening. if you want to handwave any of these possibilities, please just lmk first.
OVERALL GOALS: get sam to be less of a selfish dick? sam's goals are, generally, to get paid, get laid, and do something incredible.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: he is new! but for a quick catch up on the life of kon: he actually returned to earth not too long ago after being stuck in another dimension called gemworld for an indefinite amount of time. he sooort of missed a huge crisis, so the earth he went back to isn't his original one. for that reason, majority of people there do not remember or recognize him anymore, including a handful of very important individuals. baaaaasically, he isn't gonna be stoked to be here. it's gonna be more than a little upsetting.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: wellllll, aside from being SUPER UPSET that he is ONCE AGAIN in a different universe, he is gonna take advantage of jimmy's funds and go on an all out shopping spree. since they cut all his hair off (he just grew it back, guys), he needs leather jackets, shades and, y'know, accessories. maybe he'll go check out the clubbing scene or go tussle with some criminals. probably anything to get his minds off of things.
AREAS OF INTEREST: cr!! i want him to establish some with canonmates as well as other people whether they be on the moon with him or down on earth. he might end up helping out with that since that's kind of what he does.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: i don't mind skipping first meets if you aren't into them! just hit me up and we can work something out. kon is super friendly, so he isn't somebody who's hard to talk to or befriend.
OVERALL GOALS: mostly just getting kon acclimated to the game this month :)

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: bell was in the au, and went a little nuts trying to protect rey and clarke from being thrown into the quarry.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: bellamy kidnapped murphy/is helping to break into the volary and blow it up, so... that. i'm not sure if he's going to leave the au early or not yet! after the au he'll be reeling, because of course, trying to pick up the pieces of his cr and dealing with his fake memories. a lot of his focus will be on interpersonal things.
AREAS OF INTEREST: he'll be keeping an eye on the metaplot stuff, but he'll also still be worrying about riverstone, because he doesn't think that mess is over yet.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: it's easy to run into him at red wings! i'm also still up for handwaved au cr!
OVERALL GOALS: god, anything tbh. bellamy will be grappling with his own violent tendencies a lot after this event, so that.

JOB: Awful power-abusing Cardinal in the AU, unemployed in the regular world (though he's gunning for eventual fame and fortune)
SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: He was a Cardinal living the high life and looking down on everyone else, and mostly just made an ass of himself at parties. This month that's all over and it's time for him to get SCARY!
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: In the AU, John will be putting forth every effort he can to stop the rebellion from happening and keep the status quo the way it is. To accomplish this he will be mobilizing his network of devoted fans by going way overboard with his powers and essentially turning his annoying social media stans into an obedient little army that will protect the Volary at any cost. I don't expect this to change the eventual outcome at all but if you want to have your character fight with one of his NPC fans (or use this abuse of power and cruelty as an excuse to have some negative AU CR with Homelander) feel free to do so! I have plans for this to eventually end in his death near the end of the event so stay tuned for that as well.

Generally he's going to be very, very hardcore pro-Parliament and will be willing to fight with or kill anyone who breathes even a whiff of rebellion in his direction, if you want that for in-AU CR (positive or negative depending on your character's relation to Parliament). I'd love for him to get some out-of-AU CR based on everything that's happened here, because he'll really be going full supervillain this month and even he isn't sure how to feel about that. tl;dr he will have some lingering trauma and probably owe a lot of apologies.
AREAS OF INTEREST: I have a lot of potential areas of interest with him, and which direction he pursues will just depend on who he gets CR with and where his development goes. Some potential things I'm really interested in exploring are:

• Learning how to be an actual human being instead of an overpowered godlike superhero. Regardless of what else happens to him this will likely be his primary struggle. He could learn to cope with it on some level and be a (slightly) better person, he could try and fail and backslide into being very awful, or he could go the denial route and give in to his delusions of grandeur. Either way it will be fun and involve lots of angst and going to terrible places mentally.


• ...Building on that: he has two sets of memories now and surprisingly enough, the AU version of himself had the less fucked-up life so he'll be wrestling with the fact that he had an actual family and friends there because he genuinely never expected to know what that feels like.


• Leaning into the fact that some people worship the Displaced and trying to get his own little following. He'll be stuck feeling conflicted about this after the AU concludes, too, but he will still try and see if any of his former 'fans' have any lingering positive feelings towards him in the real world and try to exploit that.


• Something with the fact that the Displaced are now public. He's not too much of a fan of secret identities in the first place, so he's more likely to seek attention for being among the Displaced so he can be himself instead of trying to blend in.


• Either trying to climb his way up some corporate ladder again so he can be famous...or going the complete opposite route and getting into illegal activities despite acting holier-than-thou about everything most of the time. He got a crowd to cheer for him at the fight club and really if he can have that he doesn't care where it comes from.


• CR-wise, he's very emotionally stunted and due to his isolated upbringing he has a hard time making connections with other people. Here he's forced to try and relate to them on some level, so I'm interested in that and in situations where he'd get to drop his public persona. Though he's really reluctant to use the empathy bond right now (because surprise surprise he's an absolutely terrible person underneath all that fake smiling) I'd like to push him into it because it could open up some interesting possibilities. Dream sharing and the chest objects interest me a lot as well. Basically anyone who'd be willing to try and connect with him even though he's awful.

HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: He is very extroverted and likes to be up in everyone's business, especially the other Displaced, so there's plenty of opportunity to run into him. If he has positive CR with your character he will absolutely encourage them to come spend some time with him because he's needy and likes attention.
OVERALL GOALS: Everything that has been said here already, pretty much. It will still depend on how things exactly shake out after the AU, but will definitely involve a lot of complicated emotions about everything that went on in there + trying to carve out a place for himself in this world. Oh and he's signed up for a singing competition even though he's a mediocre singer who probably doesn't even like music that much, because he can't stay away from the spotlight for more than five seconds at a time.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Lexa is one of the Kestrels! She is a normal person sort of, in the sense that I can actually have her smile and talk to people like a real human. ;) Her parents are shrikes, she rebelled against them and ran away as a young teen, they had her girlfriend killed in her place in the quarry. She mostly hung out with the Kestrels and found out about Murphy and agreed to help with the bombs. She got super emotional about Castiel in the quarry. She's been something of an anxious mess so she's ready to get people out and burn this motherfucker to the ground.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Lexa will be at the quarry bomb as she agreed to help with that. She knows about the other bomb too! Her plan is to try and get all the quarry people out if possible, specifically she is most interested in Castiel, Clarke, and Rey.
AREAS OF INTEREST: Lexa is going to come out of this with a slightly healthier experience of being a person who expresses emotions so that's going to be complex for her. She will remember everything. She'll keep trying to train civilians depending on what the aftermath of this is.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: In the AU Lexa was close with all the Kestrel or Kestrel-connected people so I'd love that to remain going forward. IRL she's fairly cold but not mean, just composed.
OVERALL GOALS: To get her out of her shell more and find a middle ground of Heda and Rebel.

SUMMARY OF LAST MONTH: Quentin is a quarry designer making murder puzzles and living a nice married life with his Lady Macbeth wife (who is now an NPC). He is a social climber who wants to be a rook and exist in the conclave. He's very smart, confident and has none of Quentin's hesitations or hang ups at all.
PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: Quentin is dying in the bombing looking or his wife so he'll be shooting right into the real world. Wondering why I think it's funny to keep killing him. He'll be confused af about what just happened and then finding out about ???? wtf ??? moon stuff ?????
AREAS OF INTEREST: Quentin is heavily interested in lore, especially the god stuff surrounding us, so he's gonna remember everything that was said in the AU lol.
HANDWAVED CR OPPORTUNITIES: Quentin was amiable and friendly in the AU, very focused on his goals to be the best designer and rise ranks. Outside of that to newcomers he's a very sweet and awkward fellow who will be doing his best to welcome people without ... a ton of others around.
OVERALL GOALS: Now that he'll be getting more answers, the question of 'what's next' will be in his head. He's recently lost his boyfriend and two of his closest friends so dealing with that will take a minute, but going forward is all he can do.

AREAS OF INTEREST: cr!! either to build new ones or strengthen old ones. within the au, i don't have any solid plans for him, but i'm open to flashbacks and all the in betweens. he's a really really hot mess though, so i'm open to people standing witness to it. outside of the au, he will be touching base with cassius, doing some much needed animal control, helping anyone who needs help and possibly coordinating with people up on the moon (so say hi to iron man making an appearance again, everyone). he is going to be a little worse for wear since he'll be coming to terms with the fact that he was a cardinal in the au and HONESTLY if anybody wants to take their frustration/anger out on him, then i'm here for it. i'm also open to someone telling him to slow the fuck down and breathe a little because he's going to be very obviously not in a great place and might be like minutes from an anxiety attack.

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: he's going into the quarry! kai is gonna kill sarah ren, but i'm open to him killing other people too. so if you want your character to die, let me know and he'll be more than happy to oblige. otherwise, i would love for some quarry-centric jams involving all the neat little spooky traps they have set up. those could be fun. he'll totally be willing to strike a temporary truce. 👍 kai is going to make it to the explosion and escape safely with nile, so i don't plan for him to die in the games. he might end up convening with everyone to deal with the gods quandary too.

PLANS FOR THE NEXT MONTH: max is entering the game within the AU but retaining her memories from home (i had her here for a bit last year, but she is returning with a clean slate and a new ability); so far i've got her having been offered the opportunity to train as a shrike instead of heading to the quarry, having been trained by aeryn but then washing out due to a neurological condition, and becoming a kestrel after that. she will be confused but will quickly learn to play along, so if anyone would like to have known her in this life i'm up for just about anything!

i also might have her die at some point, we will see what happens.
AREAS OF INTEREST: any and all CR! like i said, max has been here before but won't remember having been here, people are free to mention they met her back then if they did. between the AU history she doesn't actually remember and that, all of this is going to be REAL confusing for her; luckily her backstory is already pretty wild (she's an ex-supersoldier who's just discovered that she was actually created to help prevent the end of the world and who's just set up a home base for herself and the rest of the enhanced beings she set free while burning the covert military facility down) so she'll roll with it. possibly suffer a minor breakdown, but hey.
