Happy Saturday Larkers! Welcome to the third Meadowlark CR meme. Meadowlark is now on its fifth month and going on its sixth. While a lot of characters have settled in and begun to navigate the world of Meadowlark and its plot, others are just arriving and finding their footing! NAME: Eugenides CANON: Queen's Thief. CANON POINT: The middle-end of The King of Attolia. Eugenides is contemplating how thoroughly he's managed to trap himself in a position he despises with responsibilities he doesn't like. POWER: Phasing. CHARACTER SUMMARY: > Eugenides is from a fantasy world where everything is Ancient Greece except it's like, 1640, and there's no magic but a lot of myths. Also it's a YA series so everyone is absurdly young. > Gen is a thief, from a long line of thieves, and he's very confident in his abilities despite getting his hand cut off for stealing. Not his fault, the gods betrayed him. > He is also a king (he stole a country), which is something he's not confident about and won't talk about so easily. THREE ASPECTS OF YOUR CHARACTER YOU'D MOST LIKE TO EXPLORE: WHAT ARE THEY UP TO?: Hanging around in the safehouse, disappearing every now and then, committing petty theft, and reading a lot. GOALS: > Current goal: acquire a new right hand. > He also wants to go home, while being pretty mixed up about where home is. JOB: > He kind of needs to fix his hand to get most of the basic menial jobs available to him, outside of being a criminal. > He can do that, but he doesn't like being a purposeless vagrant. > Thinking about trying to become some kind of architectural student/intern. ROOMMATES: > Eugenides does not want roommates. When he was little he had to be removed from the dormitories where all the children lived because he'd provoke too many fights. So… be his roommate, obviously. CURRENT HABITS: Casually just takes things from the communal safehouse hand-me-down pile even after they've been claimed. Sometimes puts them back. DESIRED CR: > Eugenides is good at swordfighting but not really with powers, technology, or moderation. I'm here to say I'm very interested in pursuing CR with you, given what these two have in common! I'll be putting up a catch-all post soon if you'd like to plot something in specific.

Let's move forward on Clarke and Gen getting that hand for him! I'm interested in exploring their different points of view on religion and beliefs, especially since his interaction with it seems less "I'm really religious," and more "obligated." NOT SURE IF I HAVE THE RIGHT READ, but there you are.

Right, Gen is from a tribute-based culture and not a faith-based one, so while people don't really believe in the gods, everyone makes sacrifices and offerings b/c that's what is Done. Eugenides, though, stole an ancient divine mcguffin, and since then has been basically touched by the gods, in ways that are not always enjoyable. It's related to how he lost his hand, actually, so that's a way these directions could overlap.

Also! I am not familiar with his canon but it sounds super interesting! I would love CR if you were any bit interested in this hot piece of garbage fire who has a lot of issues.

It is very interesting and I'm sorry for spoiling it for everyone. Anyway yes!! I'm canonblind but Gen is also a sarcastic asshole and he has some huge hang-ups re: violence that I was just saying I wanted to poke at, which maybe Heine could do??

What's up fellow book character. Sniper is an experienced fencer and [MANY FEELINGS ABOUT LOYALTY AND GOVERNMENT] so I am sure they would have a lot to chat about. They're also, relatively speaking, a responsible adult if Eugenides needs one of those in his life.

Eugenides is 19, which is completely adult. But I'd love for him to talk with Sniper some. He's definitely interested in different styles of swordfighting, & not really interested in discussing loyalty or whatever the philosophers say about government bring him breakfast instead.
